Rachel became interested in Massage Therapy at a young age when she was a high level swimmer and started experiencing back problems. Over the years, the sports and activities changed, and the aches and pains did too. Using pain as her teacher, she developed a deep connection with her body and was inspired to understand how it functioned at a more academic level. This led her to the West Coast College of Massage Therapy where she graduated with honours in 2010 from the 3000 hr RMT program.

Rachel believes that healing the body takes special care and awareness from both the therapist and the client. She enjoys working with her clients to uncover the root cause(s) of their discomfort, listening to their stories and experiences, as well as gathering information through an ongoing assessment of the body. She combines this with her deep knowledge of anatomy to uncover restrictive patterns in the tissues preventing proper function of the body. It is her goal and her joy to see her clients enjoying life, without limitations due to dysfunction and/or pain.

Since graduation, Rachel has been most interested in fascial techniques and the mind-body connection. Your treatment may involve lighter fascial techniques to improve hydration and function of all tissues in the body, and firmer applications of myofascial release. She is passionate about learning new tools and keeping current with therapeutic techniques. In order to enhance the healing process, she frequently engages the client through the use of active relaxation techniques, such as guided imagery and breathing techniques. She has had success with treating various conditions including: Chronic pain, nerve pain, postural imbalances, jaw pain, whiplash, sports injuries, motor vehicle injuries, tendonitis, and scars.

When Rachel is not working, she is spending time with her family, working in the veggie garden, playing tennis or kickboxing, and cooking up a storm.

Sherri is a graduate of The West Coast College of Massage Therapy. Since entering practice in 1996, she has complemented her training with in depth studies in yoga therapy, myofascial release, visceral manipulation, and cranial sacral therapy. She has been able to create a personal style which blends her experience in sports and movement with her knowledge of the human body. Treatments with Sherri reflect her understanding that the body’s structure is interconnected. Changing circumstances force the body to continually adapt both mentally and physically. It’s through this adaptation that restriction of tissues are formed. Leading to limitation or painful movement. Through assessment of all of the body’s structures, treatment and patient education, the body can begin to unlock, unwind, and heal itself. Bringing back the state of balance and harmony.

Allison has been practicing as a Registered Massage Therapist since graduating from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy Centre in 2002. She opened Synergy Massage Therapy Centre in 2004 with friend and business partner Sherri Muir to create a safe and inviting space where they could offer their clients a refuge for healing.

Every session with Allison is unique. She looks at each person as a fully interconnected being with its own innate ability to heal. However, due to the dynamic nature of our bodies we can get stuck in pain or dysfunctional patterns. By carefully assessing and listening to the body and using the most efficient and effective techniques to release adhesions and restrictions, Allison is able to help restore balance and mobility with lasting results. She provides a warm, healing environment and enables her clients to ease back into healthier, happier, and more functional lives.

Her ongoing continuing education has led her to focus on Myofascial Release, Visceral Manipulation, and Craniosacral Therapy. These techniques continue to deepen her understanding of the human body and are an integral part of her treatments. Over her years of practice she has worked with numerous conditions including stubborn postural holding patterns, athletic injuries, and digestive concerns. She has also developed a keen interest in pre and post-natal care through her own experiences in pregnancy.

Allison is an avid trail runner and dedicated yoga practitioner. She also has a passion for mountain biking, surfing and snowboarding. In her spare time, she can often be found with her husband and their two sons exploring the forests, mountains, and beaches of the North Shore.

Tasha is a graduate of the 3000 hour Registered Massage Therapy program (WCCMT 2001), the 1900 hour Acupuncture diploma program (TCICTCM 2020), and is currently furthering her studies in TCM herbal medicine.

Tasha has enjoyed a full Registered Massage Therapy practice serving at UBC, Synergy Massage Therapy, as well as within the dance community where she has had the opportunity to work with a great number of gifted individuals. The variety of patient and tissue presentations she has encountered have prompted her to further develop her training in a number of post-graduate techniques. When a question has arisen in practice, she has looked to find an answer. Drawing on an extensive dance history and general love of all things active, Tasha utilizes her knowledge of functional movement and relational posture to further enhance treatment. She is always keen to explore what activities of daily life and bio-mechanical approaches may be either supporting or hindering a person’s function and presentation.

On another level, Tasha recognizes the holistic aspects of being and health, and has thus completed 240 hours of Yoga Teacher training, 1000+ hours study of Traditional Chinese Medical Qigong, & Daoism. She is also a Registered Acupuncturist with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, as well as is further developing her studies in TCM herbal therapy. These have allowed her to further enhance wellness on a personal and professional level, something which she endeavours to pass along to her patients.

Tasha has experience with sport related injuries and provides athletic support at the recreational and professional levels, pre/postnatal care, rehabilitation on various levels, pain & stress management as indicated, and works with acute and chronic pain presentations for example: tension headaches, frozen shoulder, rotator cuff imbalances, thoracic outlet compression symptoms, post-concussion syndrome, and such things as may be indicated by fascial, visceral, and cranial treatment approaches. Tasha often works with what presents as joint pain and utilizes a number of techniques to help to bring balance to the body.

Some techniques within an RMT treatment session may include: Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy, Ligamentous Articular Strain Technique, Craniosacral and Visceral Therapy, Neuro-Meningeal Manipulation, neuromuscular approaches such as Muscle Attachment Release, as well as joint mobilization, Muscle Energy Technique, Swedish Massage, and Osteopathic techniques.

Some techniques within an Acupuncture session may include: Acupuncture, cupping, moxabustion (not available at Synergy), ear seeds.
